Detailed Itinerary |
Day 1: Cairo.
At the Cairo terminal keep your eyes open for the Travel Talk sign. Gather round in the hotel lobby at 6:00pm as we meet both the other tour members and the guide for an informal meeting.
Day 2: Cairo,
Aswan.
After breakfast we visit the Giza Plateau to explore the world famous pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycrenos. The afternoon is left to site-see Sakkara; the first capital of ancient Egypt, famous for its step pyramid built by King Zoser in 2700 B.C. This evening it’s ´ALL ABOARD´ the overnight train to Aswan.
Day 3:Aswan
– Nile Cruise Today ´ALL ABOARD´ to start our 5 star
cruise boat with private cabins and all meals provided. Our
day starts with the discovery of the High Dam and then a
visit to the Philae Temple (sacred place dedicated to the
Goddess Isis), and then the unfinished Obelisk.
Day 4:Aswan and Nile Cruise. We are bound
for the Elephantine and Kitchener Islands on the River Nile.
Our floating hotel continues north and we can sun bathe on
top while our captain shows us some of the most amazing
sites of all. Today we visit Komombo Temple, one of the most
important historical sites on the Nile.
Day 5:Nile Cruise. Today we sail all day
long on Nile, watching the beautiful scenery pass us by and
wave to the locals continuing their day of washing, swimming
and fishing. Whilst being absorbed by the culture we can sit
back and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of one of the
greatest rivers on the earth. We visit Edfu Temple while
sailing.
Day 6:Nile Cruise, Luxor. Today we disembark
Nile Cruise and then visit the temple of Luxor on the East
Bank of the Nile which was dedicated to the great god Amun,
his wife Mut and their son Khonsu (the mood god) together
represents the Theban triad. The temple was built on the
site of a probable smaller structure for the god Amun, while
the earliest parts of the temple seen today date from the
14th century BC and the time of Amenhotep III. In the
afternoon we proceed to the Temple of Karnak, one of the
most important religious centers of ancient Egypt.
XMAS EVE IN
LUXOR : This
evening we have the option to join the Xmas Eve Dinner with all the members of our group
in the impressive Egyptian town of Luxor.
Day 7:Nile Cruise, Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut,
Cairo After breakfast we head for the West Bank of the Nile where our donkey
awaits to take us into the Valley of the Kings through quiet
roads with lovely views of the Nile. Next is our discovery
of the magnificent “city of the Dead” where tombs were
carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly, and filled
with treasures for the Pharaoh afterlife. Rising out of the
desert plain in a series of terraces, the Temple of Queen
Hatshepsut is our next stop. Then the overnight train to
Cairo. Day 8: Cairo.
Our journey continues with a visit to one of the most important museums in the ancient world, the Egyptian Museum houses more than 100,000 relics of Egypt. Today we discover the Citadel of Saladin, Mosque of Mohamed Ali, the Hanging Church and the world famous Kahn El Khalili bazaar.
