Detailed Itinerary |
Day 1: Istanbul.
Thursday April 22.
At the terminal keep your eyes open for the Travel Talk representative, as we pick you up from the airport and take you to our Istanbul hotel. Gather round in the hotel lobby at 6:00pm as we meet both the other tour members and the guide. Listen up for a fast and informal meeting with the leader including registration and a short brief about the adventures ahead and some country info. After the welcome has concluded you are free to capture the delights of Istanbul.
Day 2: Istanbul.
Friday April 23.
After breakfast we begin to experience the magnificence of Istanbul. We stroll through the old town visiting Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, The majestic Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia Museum and the Underground Cistern.
Day 3: Istanbul, Gallipoli.
Saturday April 24.
Its time to rest your feet and enjoy the coach drive to the shores of Gallipoli. This morning we sit back and relax, enjoying the amazing Turkish scenery unfold before us, while listening to your music player or just watching the small towns and villages pass.
Upon arrival to Gallipoli we visit each of the areas of historical significance including ANZAC Cover, Kabatepe War Museum, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair. Tonight we get set up to ensure the best position is kept for the Dawn Service and we sleep under the stars in the ceremony area.
Day 4: Dawn Service and National Ceremonies, Istanbul.
Sunday April 25.
We wake before the break of dawn and watch as the sun rises over the battle field, we commemorate in respect and remembrance to the soldiers who lost their lives on this exact day all those years ago. We also attend the National ceremonies and services later in the day. In the afternoon we travel back to Istanbul, lest we forget. As we get into Istanbul in the evening, keep a look out for the stunning light show that is on every night! The oldest and best buildings are lit up on the canal sides of the Bosphorus, and the two bridges joining Asia to Europe are spectacular.
